show you how to do an oil change in
filter replacement on a 2005 to present
toyota tacoma let’s start with locating
the drain plug and removing it using the
appropriate size socket be sure to have
your fluids catch-can ready
after removing the drain plug inspect
the drain plug washer to see if it needs
to be replaced once the oil is done
draining replace the drain plug and
tighten using the appropriate size
socket or wrench wipe away any excess
oil from your repair our next step is to
use a small piece of heater hose
attaching to the bottom side of the oil
filter cup running the line downwards
into a fluid sketch camp if you do not
do this step when removing the oil
filter oil will seep out of the bottom
side of the oil filter cup out the
Peacock making an oil spill inside the
engine bay loosen and remove the old oil
filter

if it is tight you will need to
use a pair of large channel locks or an
oil filter wrench to break the seal on
the oil filter
you
wipe away any excess oil from your
repair our next step is to install the
new oil filter to the car an old
automotive trick is to dab a small
amount of oil and run it around the
diameter of the seal of the oil filter
before installing it back to the car our
oil filter already came pre lubed and
will not need it tighten the new oil
filter to the engine block remove the
small amount of heater hose from the oil
filter cup loosen and remove the oil
fill cap we like to use a small funnel
to help us pour the fresh oil into the
engine our next step is to pour the
correct amount and wait call for in your
owners manual which is five quarts of
5w30
once you are done pouring the correct
amount called for in your owners manual
remove the funnel and replace the oil
fill cap our next step is the start of
the vehicle allowing the engine to run
fifteen to thirty seconds to get a
proper read on the dipstick once the
engine is turned off remove the dipstick
wipe the dipstick clean insert the
dipstick then remove the dipstick again
to get a proper read on the dipstick
if the dipstick reads low add if needed
to reset the maintenance light press and
hold the trip button turn the key to the
on position and continue holding the
trip button to go to the prompts and
reset the maintenance light please click
